Taylor Rule - Fisher relation graph

The paper "The Many Faces of the TR-FR Graph" in the International Review of Economics Education has an extended discussion of many of the issues in Chapter 6 "The Great Recession and the ZLB."  There is also a description of the some of the empirical exercises related to the Taylor Rule in Chapter 4 "Monetary Policy."

The approach to stability of equilibria under adaptive expectations in the text is quite simplified. Expectational stability is the more sophisticated approach. For an introduction see the slides from George Evans' talk. Besides a description of expectational stability, there's a discussion of applications to hyperinflation episodes and liquidity traps.
